Motherland follows the trials and traumas of middle-class motherhood with a sharp, unromantic view of parenting. Rather than focusing on the cute or socially acceptable side of family life, the sitcom looks at the pressure, competition and everyday struggles that come with raising children, capturing motherhood as stressful, messy and far from idealized.
