Mel is a local politician from a well-known political family whose life changes after a family scandal leaves her teenage niece, Lennox, and nephew, Ryder, without their parents. Suddenly responsible for raising them, Mel takes the kids into her home and tries to balance family life with her public career. She turns to Joe, a man left broke by a Ponzi scheme, and hires him as the family’s male nanny.
