After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family come back to their home in Winter River. Lydia is still haunted by Beetlejuice, and the uneasy return soon grows stranger when her teenage daughter, Astrid, accidentally opens a portal to the Afterlife. As the boundary between worlds is disturbed, the family is pulled back into the chaos they hoped to leave behind.
